Annual Report OCTOBER 2006
EXECUTIVE SUMMARYThe AGSRA is a fund raising/educational organization.
The funds we receive are used to advance the work of organizations
rescuing German Shepherd Dogs. This
meets our goal of protecting the German Shepherd Dog from suffering due to
cruelty, homelessness, ignorance, neglect and misuse. PROGRAMS INCLUDE: WEB SITE WITH ON LINE DIRECTORY: DIRECTORY OF RESCUES BY STATEA directory of German Shepherd rescue organizations is
maintained and updated annually. Currently
there are over 125 rescues across the United States. THE HELP LINE REFERRAL NETWORK 630-529-7396A voice mail message directs the caller to the contact in their region. One of the nine regional contacts assists the caller with their problem and/or refers them to their local rescue organization. GRANTS TO RESCUE GROUPSThrough receipt of donations and other fund raising activities AGSRA has established a pool of funds available to qualified German Shepherd rescue organizations for reimbursement of certain types of rescue activities. From January through September, 2006 we have assisted the following groups with grants to a total of $ 17,265.00: North Louisiana GS Rescue, GS Rescue of Las Vegas, Animal Allies of North Louisiana, Dumas GS Rescue (Ky), GS Rescue and Adoptions (NC), Mississippi Valley GSDR, Kridler’s Rescue (OH), Herding Dogs Rescue, Crossroads GSD Rescue (TN), Coastal GSD Rescue (Ca), Shepherds Gate Rescue, GS Rescue of Tulsa, Wisconsin GS Rescue, GS Rescue, Inc. (IL) GS Rescue Southeast Pa. (PA). This amount covered some of the costs to re-home about 200 German Shepherd Dogs and reflects only a small portion of the amount each rescue spends per year on the dogs it saves. The requests for funds are always higher than the amount we have available and although each rescue charges an adoption fee and does fund raising of their own these amounts may still be inadequate to cover all their expenses. Your support is always welcome. EMERGENCY RESCUE RESPONSEFunds are available to provide assistance for catastrophic events such as hurricane, floods, rescues involving large numbers of dogs, etc. These are handled on a one to one basis. DISTRIBUTION OF RESCUE GUIDELINES/CONSULTATIONA booklet containing guidelines for starting and operating a German Shepherd rescue is available to all members of the referral network and anyone requesting one. This contains up to date information on the most appropriate and legal ways to operate a rescue organization and it’s activities. Members of AGSRA are available for consultation to new or ongoing rescue groups. Please make donations payable to AGSRA, Inc. and mail checks to: Shirley Briggs O’Brien, Treasurer Respectfully submitted, Linda J. Kury, President
