Lina is a beautiful and incredibly sweet 4-1/2 year old purebred
German Shepherd that has been with German Shepherd Rescue of Central New York, Inc.
(GSRCNY) since May 2009. Her previous owner used her for breeding and discarded her when he was through with her & she had 5 litters of puppies before she was rescued at 4 years old. He was giving her away for free as an unsprayed female on Craigslist, so one of our volunteers picked her up the next day to remove her from that potentially dangerous situation.
When Lina was with the previous owner, her diet consisted of kibble and stale bread. She is missing her two middle toes on her back foot -- the owner said that as a puppy, she caught her foot in a trap. After all these adverse conditions, Lina is a very loving girl, who desperately wants someone to love and a forever home of her own. When she meets people, she doesn’t just wag her tail - her whole body wiggles with joy!
The volunteer who rescued Lina fostered her for a month. However, Lina wants her own home so badly that she wants to be the only Princess, and doesn’t want to share! She MUST go to a home with no other pets. She doesn’t seem to mind seeing dogs if they are far enough away, but it’s when they’re in "her" space, it is the problem. Because she didn’t want to tolerate the volunteer’s two other German Shepherds, it was with a very heavy heart that Lina was returned to the rescue.
Lina loves children & she tries to be close to them and she’s happy to be around them. She walks well on a leash, and comes very quickly when called. If she sees you looking at her, she will jump up and come over, tail wagging! She is just generally adorable. We are hoping that a Christmas miracle comes along for this angel.
Lina is very beautiful and has a plush long-haired and glossy coat. GSRCNY has spayed
her and she is now also up-to-date on all her shots and on regular heartworm meds.
